Can I Work as Travel PTA Outside of My Home State?

  • Yes! Travel therapists can work in other states as long as they hold a valid license for that state. In physical therapy, compact states make it easier for PTAs to work across multiple states. If you have a current, valid license and meet all eligibility requirements, you can apply for a compact privilege to practice in other member states.
  • Keep in mind that compact privileges must be obtained for each state where you want to work. Once your license or compact privilege is approved, you can start applying for assignments in that state.
